I recently gave an author friend a sample sentence for starting a new chapter. I told him to just say something along the lines of, "Well, now that we're here, we have to deal with this shit." I think that's a fair summation for most chapters I write anyway... I think I already talked enough on my books on the show, so I'm not going to be redundant and write about the same stuff here. All that being said, I hope that is a situation none of you ever fall into. Granted, there are only so many things you can be prepared for, but I think it is only prudent for all of us to be as prepared as we can. This is something I still need to work on a lot myself. I think we're off to a good start, having a dairy cow, chickens and owning a property with its own water well. The water well is something not very common to have here in central Kentucky. I try to keep a few months worth of food on hand for all our animals as well because they provide us with resources. Our dogs are capable of providing an extra layer of home security, our cats keep away mice and other vermin, our horse and donkey provide fertilizer manure for our garden as well as transportation, if needed and our cows provide us with milk and manure fertilizer for are garden too. Everything we have here serves a purpose. I think that mindset is one everyone should have; if you're going to prep, do so with a purpose in everything. This is a good place to start, just thinking about what all you would need on hand if some type of disaster were to strike.I'm sure most of you reading are well beyond this starting point, but I think it is best to start with the basics and expediently move forward. I'll go into other more detailed types of things as we go along.
So, what's your thoughts on Trump's cabinet selections he is making? Is it looking like he is really going to "drain the swamp" or is he just going to maintain the status quo? As I have said before, I'll give him a fair shake. However, I think it unwise to place all your hope for America in Trump. Let's talk about the Convention of States. Once we have 34 states on board, we can hold a Convention and propose amendments to the Constitution. The primary areas that are being looked at is term limits and imposing fiscal restraints on the Federal Government. Just accomplishing that would vastly change the political landscape in our country. Congress will never vote to limit its own power, so the burden falls onto the people, which it always has been, to keep our government in check.
I'd like to hear from any of you reading this. Ask me questions, tell me a bit about your set up. I think it is good to exchange ideas about prepping in particular. That way, we can all have a better understanding for what works well and what doesn't quite cut it. The lessons we have learned could save others valuable time that are just getting into prepping and something that so often many of us tend to forget is, whatever you do to help your friends, helps you too. In other words, after the SHTF, it will be invaluable to have strong, reliable and trustworthy friends. As some of you may well know, some folks out there only prep with ammunition. People like that simply plan to take from others by force. That is something I cannot stand by idly and watch. In order to contend with such assholes, it is best to have friends who will come to your aid when needed and you need to be ready to come to their aid when you are needed as well.
With that, I think I'll bring this to a close. I've just come down with some sort of respiratory infection just like I had in October. So, I might not have another show out until after Christmas. I can barely get two words out with coughing at the moment. I think I might have a topic for my next show. Keeping healthy in a post-SHTF world. Until next time, I wish you all well, be safe and have a Merry Christmas!
